Hampton by Hilton Sandton Grayston. One opportunity to make a first impression.

496
First impressions are important to enable a property to stand out from the plethora of hotels in a specific area. This recently opened hotel does exactly that and as a result, the occupancy rate after only a few weeks is a representation of that achievement.

One of the recent additions to the hospitality industry in Sandton is the Hampton by Hilton, which has repurposed an office block into a modern, vibrant hotel.

The main entrance might look unassuming from this angle, however, I can assure potential visitors that once the doors open, they will be as stunned and amazed as I was at what awaits.

The senses are assailed by this splash of colour that is as unexpected as it is vibrant.

While pale wood gives the furniture an almost Scandinavian look, the colour palette is the perfect complement to allow the reception area to radiate a modern feel which is replicated throughout the hotel.

A portion of this space also doubles as a dining area during breakfast.

Indeed it does, as most great journeys always start with a good cup of coffee.

The light fittings add another level to the decor, and arriving guests might need to take a moment to process the overall effect of this modern interior.

Need to hold an intimate meeting where the noise of the lobby does not intrude? Then try this enclave, specifically designed to allow those meetings to take place.

The reception area is adjacent to this bar/coffee shop, making it dual-purpose and a welcome distraction while checking in.

Look up. The light fittings are an integral part of the decor and have been carefully chosen to add that extra layer of sophistication to the first impression that guests enjoy.

Looking back through this Blog post, I notice that coffee has played a major role in my comments…and so it should.

Although set inside a commercial property, there is outdoor space for guests to enjoy.

The guests are made to feel welcome in a variety of languages.

Hidden away from the main foyer is this TV lounge/ meeting room.

A quiet venue where deals can be struck and business can be concluded or guests can relax, away from the ebb and flow of guests checking in and out.

Hampton by Hilton is one of the most pet-friendly properties I have stayed at.

They are happy to welcome dogs (and cats) under 20kg. However, if you have a cat that is almost 20kg, it needs to see a vet URGENTLY.

FYI: The heaviest cat on record was Himmy, an Australian tabby who weighed 21.3kg.

On a pet-friendly note, I wonder what other ‘pets’ guests might arrive with?
