Tent 4 old and new. Sausage Tree Safari Camp

If it ain't broke, then don't fix it. The towels and their presentation is one of those small details that survived the Tent 4 transformation... Step inside.

Pull up a chair and pour yourself a cup of your favourite beverage, and I will share a story with you that starts with a Dad joke…

I visited my therapist recently and I told him that some days I felt like a wigwam and other days I felt like a teepee…

He said that it was a simple problem. I was too tents (tense)! Get it?

How did I get over that? Not one but two visits to Sausage Tree Safari Camp to pay a visit to a tent that I stayed in, but which has now been completely renovated.

This is Tent 4 (Leopard Tortoise) as I knew it. And for years, like me, others shared this space.

What lay just inside the fly-screen flap?

Why not step inside with me?

But first, sit a while and enjoy the view and soak in the calm that being in a natural setting engenders.

No better place than to be in the bush, without the pressure of urban living.

From the inside looking out.

The only connection this space has to being a tent is the fact that it has canvas walls!

Tent 4, in its original incarnation, had all the mod-cons.

Electricity, a fan, an air conditioner, a comfortable bed with high-end linen (I wonder what the linen shops did with their stocks of polyester/cotton blends? Nothing but the best here.

The devil is in the details. And there are lots of those to keep the discerning traveller content… see what I did there?

Behind the door that is visible in the picture above is a full bathroom.

It has an indoor bath…

And an outdoor shower.

Take one last look at Tent 4 in this guise.

Don’t scroll down and spoil the surprise for yourself.

Things are about to get R.E.A.L.

The tent has been totally reoriented in order for it to get the maximum exposure to the bush vista that stretches as far as the horizon.

The reason for this Blog post will become evident soon.

Many people who now stay in tent 4 will NOT know what it looked like and will therefore be unable to make any sort of comparison.

That is not what the current owners want, but by the same token, I do believe that Sonja should be given credit for the substantial makeover.

Remember the picture of the two chairs earlier? Ig not, go back and refresh your memory.

THIS is what the new deck looks like.

Guests could believe that they were on a cruise ship.

Inside, you will find that no expense has been spared to make this THE tent to stay in.

And just to prove that point, my wife and I have already booked it for my birthday in 2026.

So, if, like me, your birthday is in the middle of June and you were thinking of booking Tent 4 based on this post…think again. It is U.N.A.V.A.I.L.A.B.L.E .

Somja told me that she had a LOT of fun with the interior decor and that she mixed and matched to her heart’s content.

And it shows.

When I enquired what the style was, she alluded that it might be seen as safari chic.

Or perhaps not. It can be whatever the guests perceive it to be.

That being said, does it really matter? I don’t believe that it does at all.

But you don’t have to accept my word about the new and improved Tent 4.

Make a booking and discover it for yourself.
