Check-in time… All the Hampton staff I interacted with were cheerful and helpful.
From the security guard who showed me where to park, to these ladies who made the check-in process painless.
There are no forms to fill out, and you don’t have to provide the name of your first dog or your credit card as security. For me there was one form that had to be signed because there seemed to be two profiles for me on their system. (I had stayed at the Cape Town property some years ago, hence the confusion)
Smiles all around from other guests and most certainly from this cynical traveller who is so tired of surly staff and reams of paperwork.
The staff here are a breath of fresh air. Well done to all…
There are several bonsai trees dotted around the public spaces and this adds a layer of detail and care.
A different view as I look out from the first floor looking out towards the courtyard in front of the hotel.
Stairwells make for interesting images. The colour palette in the foyer is repeated here in the 3 small stools that are situated between the two elevators that serve the accommodation floors.
These floors can only be accessed by your key card, which is about to be made redundant by an app that you can add to your smartphone.
The light fittings are an integral part of the decor and add a layer of sophistication to the overall feel of the hotel.
I suppose for those who have OCD they would want the passage carpet to be brushed in the same direction, however, does it really matter in the greater scheme of things?
The colours from the furniture in the public spaces on the ground floor are repeated on the walls upstairs.
And FINALLY. This was the Queen Room that I stayed in for the duration of my stay.
There are several options available aside from this room:
Guests can choose from:
Queen Family Room
Twin Room
King Room and Super King Room.
All the rooms offer similar services. Wi-Fi, tea and coffee stations as well as a safe that can accommodate a laptop.
The box on the bed contained two pairs of socks as a gift. Both of which featured the Hampton signature dish…a waffle!
Nicer and more long-lasting than a bar of chocolate or something edible.
A PROPER-sized HDTV. I never quite understand why hotels will spend a fortune on room decor and then cut back on the size of the TV.
This can be seen from the bed and the channel list is easily accessible to even the most digitally challenged guest.
There is also a shelf under the TV that can be utilized as a desk. And there is a charging station and socket outlet close by. These are small details but important to those who require them.
Hanging space, which I did not require had large hangers that would treat clothes with the respect they deserve.
There is also a small fridge that can be used to keep beverages/food should you require that facility.
The modern shower room has a large shower, toilet and a basin with space on both sides to put toiletries.
Here the colour palette is calming in shades of brown and cream.
A tea and coffee station is on hand so that I did not have to go down to reception if I needed a cuppa to keep me going.
Room service is not an option here, but you can order from the 24/7 menu and bring it back to your room should you wish to do so.
I put that menu to the test, but more of that in an upcoming post.
Life is a peach at Hampton by Hilton…
The hotel fills an important role within the Sandton hospitality space and is well on the way to becoming the benchmark for hotels of this calibre in the area.
