The Orchard, new accommodation at the White Linen Guest House. Tierpoort, Pretoria

This is the recently completed accommodation on the property. Aptly named The Orchard, the 4 rooms are named after fruits.

Recently I decided to spend a day at the Rietvlei Nature Reserve before heading off to a Lodge further North…but where to overnight?

Once again, a call to Linda, the owner of this wonderful establishment and I was booked into the newly completed A-framed accommodation.

This was my third visit to White Linen Guest House and I was looking forward to trying out the latest additions at an already highly recommended establishment.

The new accommodation is set off to the side of the main house and there are side paths that lead to each room that are accessed off this main path.

There is also ample parking close by so that visitors do not have to carry their luggage long distances.

As the area has only just been constructed, the vegetation needs time to reestablish itself.

The covered table and chair outside the entrance to my accommodation.

A tranquil corner of the garden away from all the other guests and my only companions were two of the three dogs that lived on the property.

On one of my earlier visits, Linda discussed the possibility of building this accommodation, so I was glad to see it standing proudly and awaiting a flurry of guests.

Linda shared the trials and tribulations of the construction process and that had not been as easy as expected. And that all the issues were x4!

However, the final product bears testimony to her perseverance and persistence.

This is the room that I stayed in.

The other three are named Fig, Pomegranate and Lemon.

A portion of the interior looking towards the ‘bathroom’

On the left is the shower and on the right is the toilet.

Although the layout of each room is similar, the decor is slightly different.

Very comfy beds with quality linen and towels.

After a day in the dust of the nearby reserve, a white towel was NOT what I wanted as it showed the dirt on my face that I was unaware of.

There are always sweet snacks available for guests.

I did admire the ingenuity of the construction of this basin and that the taps were correctly colour-coded.

More exposed copper piping in the shower that is fed from a gas geyser.

If you have never utilized one before it takes a moment to get the temperature right, but once you have it dialled in, it operates like a regular geyser.

Often, in accommodations like this, the toilet can be small and cramped, but not here.

There was plenty of space to do your necessary ablutions in comfort and without having to revert to being a contortionist.

From the inside looking out.

Once the garden is in full bloom, this will be a wonderful place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

My thanks, once again, to Linda and her staff for making my stay a warm and welcoming one.

By the way, breakfast is an option, but as I wanted to get on the road early and the plated breakfasts here are legendary, Linda did me a packed breakfast which I ate at my destination as lunch. It was delicious and most welcome, especially the coffee.
