A final wander around the grounds of Mokoya Lodge and Sweet Thyme restaurant. Magaliesberg.

The accommodation is relaxing and uncluttered. This allows guests to had a nap or read a book without the distraction of social media or TV.

This is the way to start of a morning…Coffee when I am away from home is a treat as I never have coffee at home, only tea!

And the coffee here at Mokoya was most delicious.

I do like to be up before the rest of the guests, in order for me to wander around without interacting with either them or staff.

It is my quiet, creative time which I guard selfishly.

This sort of stone work seems to be a dying art, so I am glad that this property uses this method both inside and outside the accommodation cottages. It is not as easy as it looks and to make the finished product atheistically pleasing is no easy task.

Like a jeweled necklace, this spider-web, caught in the early morning light was still intact. At least I could see this on…as I did get caught by not one but two others not too long after taking this picture.

There is beauty everywhere you look on this property. You just have to open your eyes and see what lies beyond the obvious.

This Morning Glory has such a short life span, that those who get up late might not get to experience these flowers.

The mighty Magaliesberg River flows along the eastern boundary of the property.

Flowing water has a hypnotic effect on me and this section of the river had me transfixed for the longest time.

Many time, when I visit properties, there is an area that catches my attention.

In this instance it was the walkway/hanging space/ tea and coffee station that linked our bedroom to the bathroom. It always felt like I was walking downhill and that the bathroom was below ground level, but it turned out to be an illusion and that both were, in fact. on ground level.

Look up.

I have a fascination with thatch roofs. I find them mesmerizing and often, when I sleep in a room that has a thatch roof I end up counting the poles to help me sleep.

Booking my spot at the pool, before the rest of the guests wake and claim the sun-loungers.

If you are looking for a great weekend getaway that is only an hour from either Johannesburg or Pretoria, then this is the place for you to relax and unwind.
