Mono time…

It is said that a picture is worth 1000 words. If that is seen to be true, then this post contains 12000 words...

There are some images that can work in mono (in film terms black and white) and I have put together a couple that I feel work particularly well in this post.

Although they are mainly of leopard(and each image is of a different leopard) there are a couple of other mammals that ‘made the cut’.

Cheetah at rest…

Looking over my shoulder.

Always an exciting moment when you chance upon a leopard lying camouflaged in the long grass.

Although all the images were taken in a game reserve well known for its leopard population, we did bump into a few lion as well.

Life is tough…

We though that this cheetah had spotted potential prey, turns out that we were mistaken and it was just a stretch before loping off to find another termite mound to utilize as a vantage point.

Black and white in black and white?

For leopards that don’t want to ‘pose’…a back of head shot has to suffice.

Leaping for joy?

Mating time for the cats is not all pleasure for the males. It is the females that call the shots and they can get rather needy. Eventually this male had enough and after leaping off in spectacular fashion, he moved away to where he thought he would not be disturbed. But he was mistaken and the female followed him after a short respite, only to begin the process all over again.

Keeping an eye on my territory.

“Who is a big boy”? ME!

This particular small male was found snacking on the remains of a crocodile.

Obviously it was tasty, or should I say lip smacking good as croc supposedly tastes like chicken.

Looking into the distance…
