“In conversation with”... A new week, a new month and a new lockdown level! Almost unnoticed, South Africa slipped into Level 3 and I have now reclassified myself as a non-travelling travel writer and I put on my mask, made myself comfortable in my office to conduct these chats with friends in both the travel and entertainment industries.
Conducting Zoom interviews, where I cannot hide behind the anonymity of a microphone, is a whole new experience for me. But the chats have been fun and it has allowed me to interact with humans(albeit in the digital form) again. The interviews featured in this posting are those that I did from 1-5 June. All the videos and more can be viewed via my YouTube channel.
The week started off with me chatting to clinical psychologist, Ruth Anser about the mental effect that lockdown is having on many South Africans…and I thought that I was the only one having feelings of depression and anxiety.
Time to get back into the bush with Rhodes Bezuidenhout of Shangani Trails? Unfortunately not just yet, but hopefully soon.
If you cannot get back to the bush, then FGASA has a range of online theory courses that you can enrol on. Thus keeping up your qualifications, while waiting for lockdown to be over. Michelle du Plessis, MD of FGASA shares what is on offer.
Michael Tucker of Big5 Photos joined in to chat about all things photographic.
And finally, I ended off the week chatting to Alan Committie chatting about the art of comedy, his award-winning portrayal of Richard 3 and a plethora of subjects in between.
