Favourite images from the first half of 2019. Part 1

2131
I find it hard to believe that the first half of
2019 is almost done and dusted?
To mark the passage of time,
I thought that I would share some of my favourite 2019 images.
When staying in an unfenced camp,
you never know who might become your tent mate!
This young Monitor Lizard wanted to be mine…
Makuleke Camp
Buffalo always look at you as if you owe them money!

A bit of photo wizardry.
Movement amongst the trees.

One day, hopefully, this youngster will be the same size as Mom
White Rhino Mom and calf
This is how I feel some days!
Head down, just plodding along to get me
from where I was to where I need to be!
Being so plentiful, Impala are often overlooked.
Which is a pity as, in the right light,
 they can make ideal photo-opportunities.
Open wide…
Even when young, a hippo can be very dangerous!
Their dental array might look haphazard,
but it is specifically designed for foraging…
and for biting humans.
Fun Fact #509: From birth young zebra have
the same leg length as the adults.
This effectively confuses predators who are unable
 to distinguish between the two.
A colourful way to end off a game drive.
And what would an evening drive be without an African sunset?
A big thank you to each of these brands
 for coming on board.
This has been my constant travel companion
for the past several years.
It might look worn,
but that represents the kilometers/miles
we have shared together.
From Kilimanjaro to the beaches of India.
To coach trips across Europe and Vietnam
and to a variety of game lodges and road trip destinations
 in South and Southern Africa.

I have worn the orange Veldskoen in the jungles of India
and on the beaches of Croatia.
Not to mention, many game reserves in Africa.
They are probably the most comfortable pair of shoes
that I have ever owned.
Now to try out the rest of the colours in the range.

I could not do without this awesome laptop bag from Solo.
Padded for protection and with enough pockets to keep
almost everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink in,
this is definitely a stylish addition to any business presentation.
Be it in the boardroom or the bush.
This bag can also be worn as a backpack.
There are straps in a hidden compartment that can be deployed
when you need both hands for other purposes.

This locally made product was indispensable when using a long lens.
The ball and socket might look simple…and it is,
which is why it should be in the gear bag of every serious photographer.
This locally made, deceptively simple device is ideal
for tracking birds in flight or animals in motion.
The base can be used on a beanbag or a tripod,
with the ball being fitted to the camera.
The simplicity of the device allows moving from supported
to handheld in a fluid motion.
There is also a version that can be used on a car window.
