Thank you to all of you took the time and trouble to cast a vote.
Each and every one was appreciated
and my Human has, once again, achieved a
podium finish this year.

The official 2018 badge has arrived!
My Human awaited this one with eager anticipation…
6 times runner up, it might be a record.
But, if nothing else, he is consistent…

On a serious note…my Human,
despite being in hospital twice in November,
has put a LOT of work into his Blog.
Unlike past winners who have entire divisions that can supply content,
he has to do it all on his own.
Not that he is complaining, he enjoys what he produces
and it seems that his reading audience of 750000+ does too.
FYI: More than 5000 people visited the Blog
 during the public voting phase
 No time to play time…
2019 work beckons.

Your Campaign Manager did an amazing job while you worked incredibly hard in the background producing amazing content and amazing pics from amazing places, showing your absolute passion for travel and giving us all a sense that we were actually are always at those destinations with you and then leave us wondering why we are all still sitting on the couch writing posts on Facebook instead of getting into our cars and experiencing what adventure waits out there – all you did was write simple and inspiring copy about complicated places and remind us again of how fragile our wild life ecosystem is, yet how it is there to be admired and respected… breaking down it all down into choice words and carefully framed photos made at just the right moment. Hopefully while you were doing that your campaign manager was diligently lying on the couch thinking up a strategy to get it all out there….. ! I just loved your campaign by the way … does he have his own Facebook page? I almost feel like he’s a celebrity at this point …

 all the hard work worthwhile

A new “tool” in my camera bag.
This locally made product was indispensable when using a long lens.
The ball and socket might look simple…and it is,
which is why it should be in the gear bag of every serious photographer.
This locally made, deceptively simple device is ideal
for tracking birds in flight or animals in motion.
The base can be used on a beanbag or a tripod,
with the ball being fitted to the camera.
The simplicity of the device allows to to move from supported
to hand held in a fluid motion.
There is also a version that can be used on a car window.
