This is a solid piece of kit.
Although it is not much bigger that a soft drink can,
it is manufactured to the highest specifications.
And at a “weighty” 405gms, it is comfortable to hold
and the holster can be clipped or
threaded onto a belt.

and intimidating by nature?
When last, if every, did you get a torch that can with an owners manual?
I knew that this would be more than the usual
“insert-batteries-and-switch-on” type product…
and I was right.

this is much more that any other torch I have every owned.
Firstly, it came in this hard-shell case, which included:

this night time bush braai was almost turned into daylight.
This is what I could see without the torch…
And this is what was hidden in the darkness…
Because I was testing to see if could live up to its
promise of an 800m throw, I had removed the filter,
hence the hot spot on the tree.

only in interior detail is visible…
I found this Red Toad outside my accommodation at a game reserve
and decided to utilize it as a model.

The opaque filter softens the throw of the beam.
They are available( purchased separately) in blue, green and red.
If, like me, you are going to be using this on a game drive,
then check with the field guide about colour preference.
Many reserves now use red filters on night drives,
so that the prey species are not blinded by a bright white light.

The detail under this clean white LED light is impressive.
The only issue I had is that in the dark,
I battled to find the on/off switch.
That is mainly because it is so well manufactured that it sits flush.
It would have been great had there been a luminescent ring
around the circumference of the switch,
making it easier to find.

The Intimidator can be recharged via this mini-USB port.
Either off a laptop or via the car charger that is supplied.
Looking into the branches for predators/birds/ intruders
is a piece of cake with the incredibly powerful beam,
capable of reaching up to 800m!
