Welcome to Tented Adventures, Pilanesberg…
This might well be your first view of our camp,depending on where you park your car,
or get dropped of by a transfer company.
They have 8 tents, that sleep a total of 16 guests.
This makes for an intimate and individualistic experience.
Currently the site, like much of South Africa is waiting for rain.
Even though you might have just arrived,
a good way to judge a property is by what is written in the guest book.
And theirs is filled with warm compliments and promises of return visits.
The statuette on the table is the Lilizela Tourism award that they recently won.
Meet the team…
This is the Camp Manager, Shaun.
He is passionate about wild life, nature and being in the hospitality industry.
Camp Host, Thomas…looking rather pensive
as he was about to write exams.
He is a wonderful story teller,
so take a moment to ask him about how he learned to listen.
Camp Host, Bennie…the legend.
Aside from being a host, he is also a great cook!
The meals that he prepares and serves the guests are often commented on in the guest book.
The camp “mascot”…
Bob, the Blue-headed Agama.
The reason that he was named Bob, is that is the motion that his head makes,
while he surveys his surroundings.
Not a resident in the camp, but he is regularly observed.
One of the resident Banded Mongoose clan that use the camp as a highway.
Much like Vervet Monkeys, these “cute” creatures can become a problem.
They like to burrow under the tents, but luckily for the guests,
the interactions between mongoose and humans is one of curiosity.
The word “tent” often conjures up a vision of the old school
“bend-down-and-crawl-in-sleep-on-the- ground” type.
But at Tented Adventures this is certainly NOT the case.
As you can see, the tents are large enough to stand up in
and even have a small deck where guests can relax and enjoy a private drink.
The interiors house two comfortable beds, electric lighting
and plug sockets to charge all those electronic devises
that have become our constant travelling companions.
The beds have electric blankets to keep the chilly winter nights at bay,
and there is a standing fan to circulate the warm summer air.
Early to bed?
The guests can either eat outdoors or inside the main “lounge” tent.
The seating arrangements depends on the weather and the number of guests in camp.
Who needs an alarm clock when the call of the Natal Spurfowl
will certainly waken the deepest sleeper.
