They brew horses don’t they? Black Horse Brewery. Craft beer in the Magaliesberg.

4443

I found my visit to this artisanal brewery most educational.
It is situated next to De Hoek Country Hotel in Magaliesberg,
and as well as the brewery, they also have a gift shop,
restaurant and wedding venue.
The entrance to the restaurant and pub.
There are several entrances to the property,
make certain that you use the correct one, or like me, you might get lost
Nothing better than an ice cold brew…
and they have several on tap.
The condensation on this pipe was from the temperature of the contents,
and not caused by the weather.
All the beer on offer is hand crafted in this part of the property.
The plant consists of a mash/lauter tun, a boil kettle and half a dozen 400L fermenters.

These could be cleaning fluids or they could be part of the process,
the composition was what caught my eye.
Every corner of the space available within the brewery has been used productively.

This reminded me of a line from “Macbeth”…
“Double Double,toil and trouble,
fire burn and cauldron bubble”…
Except in the play they were boiling up “eye of newt” and “and toe of frog”.
Neither of those ingredients are present in the final product here.

The majority of the vats here are stainless steel…
And seem to be really chilled.

This task must be never ending…
Cleaning out at the end of every brew.

This looks like it could have been designed to be in a Jules Verne novel.
Copper was the old school metal of choice,
as I do believe that it added a specific flavour to the end product.

Just two of the beverages that are brewed on the property.
Be warned, the Gingerberry packs a punch.

Time to stop and taste what is on offer before having something to eat.

Just a couple of the beers that are brewed on site

Not certain what you want to order?
Then why not enjoy a beer tasting?
It works for both spirits and wine, so why not beer…

I discovered this in a corner of the bar…
These copper still always remind me of the moonshine distillers in the USA.

The view across the lawns and over the Zeekoeihoek Valley is spectacular.
Guests can relax in the shade of pecan nut trees, while enjoy a beverage (or two).

DO NOT BE FOOLED…
This might look, smell and taste like a raspberry cool-drink, but is IS a beer.

GammaTek is my powerbank supplier of choice.
One of my problems is often lack of battery power
if I have been using the camera on my phone.
I have tried many “powerbanks”,
but the majority drain before they can fully recharge my device.
This is where this Powerbank has the edge…
it can recharge my phone up to 7 times,
before it needs to be recharged.
