Spotted at a roadblock on the N4
What were the designers of the Battle of Bergendal thinking.
This looks more like a Triffid from “War of the Worlds”,
than a memorial to fallen soldiers in a Boer War battle.
After having spent four days with leopards and lions in Sabi Sand,
it was strange to come across this Emu,a native Australian bird,
near Barberton!
It, together with 5 others were given to the landowner to settle a debt.
On the same property is this family cemetery.
The one grave has major historical significance.

This was where I spent the final night of my journey.
A sort of “selfie”, squeezed in the back of one of the #safariLive camera vehicles.
I had been warned that it might be uncomfortable,
but I did manage to keep out of the way of the cameraman.
My experience here has been the highlight of 2016 for me.
