Week 6. The Ultimate You Challenge.

1412

Think on this:
A field guide once told me that a Buffalo will look at you
as if you owe it money!
Since then, I have never been able to look at them without that idiom
running through my head.
How do YOU look at yourself?
Are you happy with what you see?
If not, what are YOU doing to change that image?
Remember, only YOU can change yourself.
Support from family and friends is wonderful.
but at the end of the day, YOU have to produce the results.
What you put in is what you get out…
#thechoiceismine.

Have you made your choices timeless?
For me,Heat 1 is almost over, and soon, others, who are participating
will have a decision to make soon.
Did I just accept this challenge for 8 weeks
or will it become a lifestyle choice?
Hopefully you, like me, will have experienced some form of positive change
that will remain with you for LIFE.
For me, if I think back to my Healthy Habits Challenge,
what has remained with me is the “be mindful of what you eat”.
I am not obsessive about it, but I am very aware
of what and how I am eating.
Especially if it is an animal protein.
I am truly thankful that something has given its life,
in order for me to enjoy a meal.
This is how I WILL look in my final challenge photograph…
BATZ BUDDIES have risen to the occasion.
Dad (David) and Daughter(Jayne) have joined forces
to support and encourage
each other (and the other teams) to do their best.
This image was taken on a recent visit to my daughter in Cape Town.
Her support and encouragement continue be crucial to me.
Not only did she encourage me to enter this UYC,
but she is making certain that I stick to the “plan”.
This is what my team mate had to say:
This is the Ultimate YOU Challenge for a reason.
Because it is such a personal challenge/journey.
One were you can truly only hold yourself accountable (groups and friends help a lot!!!
But at the end of the day it is just you!)
This Challenge has been a lot more trying for me- maybe because it is Winter,
maybe because January’s resolution to change is waning, maybe maybe maybe…?
But… I am still here.
This is a point, when I notice people can start to feel defeated.
“Oh look how much further others are than me!”
” I will never win, so might as well throw in the towel!”
This is a point where I know I feel easily defeated, and I know I am not alone.
Scales not budging, cms not falling off, frustration at a high….
But… I am still here. Why?!
Because this is my body, and this is still my desire to change.
My body doesn’t leave me in 8 weeks, we don’t part ways if it ‘doesn’t work out’.
This is the Ultimate reminder… this is not just a challenge…
this is my desire to change my way of life!

I spent most of the week at a Game Lodge
and there were temptations at each meal.
Instead of denying myself totally,
I did allow myself a “treat” or two.
But I have to admit that they looked better than they tasted.

It seems as though my taste-buds are no longer satisfied by
sweet treats, but would rather have nuts or biltong.

I did strive to make certain that there was “green”
on my plate at dinner…

I could not have said it better myself.
In a sea of cynicism, jealousy and often vitriol,
I find the groups involved the various challenges
to be the absolute antithesis.
May you all attain the goals that you are striving to achieve.
I tried out this device for the first time last week.
Many thanks to Quantifi for loaning it to me.

The Smart Body Analyser can be used as a stand alone device,
which can be used either via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
There is also a phone App that works with both iPhone and Android handsets.
According to the SBA, I have 23% body fat.
Those in the “know” have said that this is good,
and who am I to disagree.
Considering that I have been “on holiday” for the past week,
my weight remained constant at 86,9kg.
But the biggest loss has been in cm’s.
My waist down from 99 to 94cm, and similar losses
in all the other measurement areas!
More “Tales from the scale” to follow over the final weeks.
Jayne is working with this team
and from what I have seen on Facebook,
they are an incredibly supportive and motivated group.
I am hoping that this team is on track?
I wish you all the best for your collective goals.
I really like the team names,
and the logos that they have designed.
I trust that by the end of this challenge,
this team will be able to change the “MUST FALL”
to “HAVE FALLEN”.

I do like this logo and team name.
Will it be seasonal, or is it a “once off”…
I hope that both individually and as a team
you achieve all your goals.

Follow me as I tackle what might well be the toughest
fitness challenge I have volunteered for.
The challenge starts on May 16 and will run for 8 weeks.
Some of the images were shot on
