Ekuthuleni Lodge. Welgevonden Game Reserve, Waterberg

My arrival at the camp.
The view out over this open plain makes for great game viewing.
On a different note.
I have to compliment the Lodge staff for having the cleanest game drive vehicles.
My accommodation.
Close enough to the main building,
but with enough privacy to stand on the veranda
and not worry about being seen

Light and airy…
The subdued colour scheme is just what you want in lodge accommodation.
The leather chair on the right of frame became my reading corner.
The bathroom/shower room is through the door on the right.

My view…
I could wake up to this EVERY morning.

Aside from the inside shower,
there is also an outdoor “version”.

The lodge is family friendly.
And this proves that fact.
There are two single beds on the mezzanine floor,
with a king size bed below.

If you REALLY need Wi-Fi,
then this is the ideal spot to connect.
Used as a bar during meals,
it became my “office” during the day.

I suppose that this could be classed as the formal lodge lounge.

As the weather was mild, we ate outside for all our meals.
I would imagine that in the middle of winter (June/July)
the inside dining room would be well utilized.

Look carefully and you will find wonderful decorative pieces
scattered throughout the lodge.
The attention to detail is a hallmark of the Rare Earth properties.

I had meals on this deck, which is outside the TV room/bar.
It gives guests a different perspective of the waterhole
and the open plain in front of the lodge.

Personally, I try to distance myself from TV while I am in the bush,
but I do understand that certain soccer matches are VERY important.

Time to head for bed…

I don’t think that any of the guests(myself included)
took the plunge during my stay.
That said, the deck is a good place to get some sun
and to watch out for game that might be wandering by

I am not certain if this young Rhino was guarding the lodge
or just on reserve patrol.
Either way I spotted him on both days that I was at the lodge.

Despite having had a tough evening the night before,
