This is the old part of the Vineyard Hotel.
It has been seamlessly and cleverly blended
into to new parts of fine establishment.
The Vineyard has a comprehensive”green” policy.
One of their projects is the collection of batteries.
from both staff and guests alike,
for proper disposal.
A great initiative, and one that I wish other establishments would implement.
The reception area is warm, welcoming and most elegant.
For me, all of the public areas hark back to a time when live was
less frenetic and we actually had time to “take tea”
or wander through gardens.
Aside from the main dining areas,
this “coffee shop” provides a haven for those who HAVE to work
(The Vineyard, does, after all, boast world class conference facilities)
Adjacent to the coffee shop, this quiet area is great for “sealing a deal”
or perhaps an intimate meeting…
These cabinets contain a variety of interesting artifacts.
Every time I walked past during my stay I stopped
and found something I had not noticed before.
My favourite part of the hotel.
So much to read…and, unfortunately, too little time.
Lady Anne Barnard must have had more time to write than I had to read.
“The Square Restaurant and Sushi Bar”…
Breakfast and dinners are served here.
A great space to enjoy both a meal and the ambiance.
One day I will write the real story about how this
copper still became part of the decor in this hotel.
From the gardens, looking back towards to original part of the hotel
“The Quiet Room”, as seen from the outside looking in.
No cell phones or laptops allowed!
This corridor runs the width of the hotel.
If you look up as you pass through this set of doors,
you will be able to see some of the original brickwork.
The Vineyard boasts a fine dining restaurant.
Myoga was opened in 2007 and is run by multi award winning
Chef Mike Bassett.
Open seven day a week for both lunch and dinner,
it offers diners fusion food at its very best.
And to work off all the food,
two swimming pools and a well equipped, high tech gym!
What more could a guest want?
Perhaps someone to do their training for them?
And speaking of training…
The hotel has personal trainers on site to offer assistance,
or to engage in paid “one-on-one” sessions.
If you are “peckish” after training, then pop into
the Splash Restaurant, alongside the indoor heated pool.
This is Faiz, who did all the paperwork at Cape Town airport.
In my dealings with this company to date
I have only met with friendly and efficient staff
who have a passion for their customers.
Based on my experiences over the past few months
and in three different cities, I highly recommend them
