Overview of my recent KZN road trip.

1076

Time to reflect on my recent road trip in KwaZulu Natal.

Although the weather might not have been perfect,
the rain did not “spoil” the trip at all.
Although driving on the N2 from Pietermaritzburg to Durban
in a storm of “tropical” proportions, can be nerve wracking.
Drivers in this province are a law unto themselves!

The upside of the rain is the beauty it produces.

Howick Falls.
This town must be the only one in South Africa
that can boast this view from its main street.

My wife on the deck of our Villa
at Karkloof Safari Spa.

Here we did not mind the inclement weather,
as we were QUITE content to stay indoors.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever?

From the inside looking out.

We did EVENTUALLY venture out…
We paid a visit to the library in the main lodge building

And spent an evening here before going through for dinner.

Food glorious food.

This is one of the reasons to visit this property…
The Spa.

The attention to detail can be found in even the
“simplest” of things…
Like the belt on the Spa gown

A walk to the Karkloof Falls.
A must for the soul…

Our last “port-of-call”,
The Oyster Box…
and their iconic hotel cat Skabenga.

You cannot NOT take at least one image of the lighthouse.

A child’s eye view of the sea through the balustrade of our veranda.

Breakfast.
We were “warned” about this meal,
and I therefore paced myself…saving this waffle for the second day

I “discovered” that I like sushi.
I stepped out of my comfort zone, and
after not eating it for almost my entire life,
I have decided that I will enjoy more in 2016

That “pesky” lighthouse photo-bombing
yet another image.

Images on this trip were shot on
a Canon SX60HS.

In my dealings with this company to date
I have only met with friendly and efficient staff
who have a passion for their customers.
Based on my experiences over the past few months
and in several cities, I highly recommend them
Europcar, the official car rental supplier
