My Top 10 Game Lodges for 2015

2359

Kopano, Madikwe Safari Lodge, Madikwe.
Those who know me well, know that if I am not in the bush
every three months, I tend to have withdrawal symptoms.
I have been lucky enough to visit 9 lodges this year.
Here they are in no particular order…

Inyati, Sabi Sands
If you are looking for leopards,
then you have to visit Inyati Game Lodge in the Sabi Sands

Marataba Trails Camp, Waterberg
I had never visited the Waterberg before…
This is one of the most beautiful areas of our country.
The MORE Group has two lodges in this reserve.
None of the usual game drives here,
guests get to go on two walks a day.

Marataba Safari Lodge, Waterberg
This is the second camp.
“Slightly” more luxurious than the trails camp,
where visitors get to go on game drives.
I spent my birthday here in the freezing cold.

Jamala Madikwe.
THE most luxurious camp I have ever stayed at.
You don’t even have to leave camp to get great animal sightings,
just spend time on the deck watching the waterhole.

Mosethla Bush Camp, Madikwe.
My best “true bush camp”…
Again in Madikwe, it was here that I stated my game ranger course
with the then owner Chris Lucas.
His daughter, Caroline, now runs the lodge.

Lion Sands, Kruger National Park.
Another MORE property.

If you stay at Lion Sands, then you can book a night at their
Tinyaleti Tree house.
A great way to experience the African bush at night

All of us that go to the bush, whether we admit it or not,
want to experience a kill.
This 2 second interaction was shot during a game drive
from Marataba Safari Lodge

I got to live my dream with my final bush trip of 2015.
I spent several days at this training college,
doing the Trails Guide segment of their curriculum.
I am glad to report they the group that I was with achieved a 100% pass rate.
Well done to you all.
I look forward to seeing you at a MORE lodge in 2016.
