Goodbye to 2015 and HELLO 2016…

2824
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
This time of the year is always bitter sweet for me.
Being self employed, I have to open a 2016 diary that has
many empty pages.
I have always trusted the Universe to help me fill them…
2015 was a good year, but 2016?
I wait with bated breath to see which of my projects
comes to fruition.

December 31 is my Dad’s birthday.
He would have been 90.
Gone 11 years and missed every day!

This was one of his favourite tunes…
“My Old Man said follow the van”

This was read at his memorial.
It made me cry then,
and it still brings a tear to my eye now.
DEATH IS NOTHING AT ALL.
by Canon Henry Scott Holland

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room.
I am I, and you are you,
Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way you always used.
Put no difference into your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as you always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me…
Pray for me.
Let my name be the household name it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect,
Without a trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant,
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of your mind, because I am out of your sight?
I am but waiting for you for an interval,
Somewhere very near…
Just around the corner.
All is well!

What am I grateful for?
For family and friends
For work opportunities
For the Universe and all that it has provided.
For love
I have visited interesting places both locally
and internationally.

My wonderful wife, Carolyn, who is my rock.

My daughter, Jayne, who has always been my sounding board.
She has come into her own this year within her chosen profession,
and has made me very proud.
These links will direct you to just some of the work she has done.

I got to see a Christmas full moon.
I intend to be around in 2034 when it occurs again

I enjoyed some wonderful meals,
both locally and abroad.
And I DID photograph the food.

Have I been courageous?
Not all the time.
I have perhaps been more cautious than courageous.
That being said there have been occasions
where I have stepped out of  my comfort zone..
and survived!

Have I taken the road less traveled?
Often, but mostly by accident.
But they have been woven into my 2015 tapestry.

I have tilted again windmills,
often for the wrong reason.

A big THANK YOU to the many people who have been
a part of my journey in 2015.
You know who you are and what you mean to me.
