Kopano Lodge, Madikwe Safari Lodge. Food, glorious food!

“FOOD…SO MUCH FOOD”,
my wife Carolyn was surprised by the fact that the Lodge serves
three meals and a high tea each day.

From sunrise…

to sunset…

There is food on offer.
This home-made bread is from the lunch we were served on arrival.

And not just a sandwich…
a proper meal.
My choice:
Beer battered line fish, served with rustic cut potatoes and a salad

This is what my wife chose:
Pasta with a Napolitano sauce, roasted cherry tomatoes and basil pesto

The dessert was rather interesting:
Melon “soup” with ice-cream and chocolate drops.
Certainly a different taste to what I was expecting.

Lunch on Day 2
Carolyn chose:
Grilled vegetables with haloumi salad

While my choice from the menu was:
Foccacio
Beef pastrami, pinapple chutney with potato chips

High tea…
biscuits, tartlets, deep fried mushrooms and smoked salmon.

And a VERY tasty home made caramel cake

And it was not only the Chef that cooked up a storm.
Our ranger, Max, brought out a gas stove and whipped up this
tasty beef snack on a game drive.

Lots of home-baked bread on offer with each meal

My dinner on the first night…
Grilled Eland, vegetables and sweet potato croquettes.
Delicious.

As per usual, my wife and I always choose different mains,
and that way we get to taste two separate dishes.
This is pan-fried chicken supreme with a mushroom risotto cake
and roasted peppers.
Another top rated plate.
For those who do not eat meat, there was a vegetarian option.
Aside from the vegetarian/vegan dietary requirements,
the lodge can cater for specific needs if given advance warning

Strawberry and vanilla Panna Cota with crumble and a berry coulis
ended off a very fine dining experience.

What a start to our mornings…
And yes there were the usual hot breakfast choices on offer

As the weather was ideal, we were able to enjoy a Boma dinner.
Always great for both local and International tourists alike.

Bush TV…

A surprise meal on one of the morning game drives.

The meal was so tasty that even the staff were happy about it!
