Alan Committie hosting the 17th annual
Absa Jewish Achievers Awards at Vodaworld in Johannesburg

Entertainment was provided by 1st Project.
A great drumming group

Legendary political cartoonist Dov Fedler
and his wife Dorrine…my in-laws.
Dov was nominated for the award with the second longest name;
Jewish Report Art, Sport, Science & Culture Award.

I am uncertain who was having more fun with the interview,
Dov or the interviewer, Dina Kaplan Diamond

Awaiting the outcome of the nomination.

And the winner is…
Dov Fedler!
Here he is, receiving the award from Steven Koseff of Investec Bank.

“So much to say, and only three minutes to say it in”

The cartoon that Dov is proudest of.
And given the subject, one that he will never replicate

“I have never visited Brakpan” says Dov proudly.
But then again, he has never been to Europe either!

” But on a more serious note”…

Dov with host Alan Committie…
two very funny men in their chosen professions

This is the type of image that begs the question,
what was long time friend David Williams saying?
Answers on a postcard please…

Public Protector, Adv. Thuli Madonsela won the award with the longest title.
The Chivas Humanitarian Award in honour of Chief Rabbi Cyril Harris, Z”D
Two very worthy winners.
Well done.

Dov’s recently released memoir is currently available
at leading bookstores.

Hail, hail the family is all here…
