25th May is Africa Day…
Where else in the world can you have breakfast
AND watch a herd of Elephants simultaneously?
There is little that can match the splendour of an African sunrise
I am blessed that I can share this country
with both my daughter and my wife
Being able to watch a lion patrolling his territory,
and only three hours from my front door…
Or come THIS close to one of the continent’s most elusive creatures
Johannesburg in the early morning light
Where you can meet the most amazing entrepreneurs…
This is Stanford, who I met via Facebook,
he built us the most wonderful hanging wall garden.
Here is the story in full.

We have thousands of kilometers of coastline.
Some more accessible than others.
Parts are overcrowded by tourists and visitors,
while others are almost desolate…
and yet to be discovered by the masses
Where Pearl Spotted Owlets can peer down from trees
And the beauty of driftwood in calm ocean water
can make your heart sing
Where else in the world can one have the opportunity
to take an image like this?
Johannesburg celebrated the “Year of the Goat”
with a wonderful fireworks display
While I had my own…
Sunlight through a garden sprinkler
Spioen Kop in KZN.
Where on of the most fearsome battles were fought
during the South African war.
Many died and no ground was won or lost.
On the mountain that day were Winston Churchill and Mahatma Ghandi!
Nowhere else in the world can you experience this sight…
And no story about my country and my continent would be complete
without a plate of wors(sausage), coleslaw and baked beans.
The staples at any braai (barbeque).
Earlier I mentioned sunrise…
Sunsets in the bush are spectacular.
If only Africa…if only…
but in reality, this is what we have to endure.
We cry for Africa
