Just another morning in Africa.
Time to head off on a game drive…
BUT FIRST…
BREAKFAST!
Full English,of course
And this was what mom and son had to snack on…
A Bushbuck that I had seen walk past my deck earlier.
This was my first lion sighting of the trip…
but not the last.
On my last visit here in 2013 we spent two days looking for lions without success
This time we found them on the first game drive!
These two old male Buffalo were lying in the Sabie River,
opposite the lodge
One my last morning I found this
Journey of Giraffe.
A Vervet Monkey watching me…
Part of a group of Cape Vultures that we found near the Bushbuck kill
A happy Impala in the early morning light.
Why happy?
You would be as well if you were a prey species
that had made it safely through the night.
A Giant Kingfisher at a weir on the Sabie River
It is when you get this close to an African Elephant
that you begin to realize just how BIG it actually is
A good scratch is always welcome
“And off we go”…
Making a trunk call?
This Ellie seems to be looking for the tracker…
All the guests on game drive vehicles know this as Pumba.
We know it as a Warthog
A Goliath Heron looking for a meal
A pair of Southern Red-billed Hornbill looking for a meal.
A Dwarf Mongoose…
A baby Baboon…
We ended off this drive by finding ANOTHER pride of lions
And finally…
This tiny Flap-necked chameleon was spotted by our tracker.
Time to head back to camp…
Dinner awaits!
