Amanzi Game Reserve, Brandfort.

Once again I headed off down the N1,
only this time I took a left and a right turn onto the R30 towards Brandfort
I was to join a team filming a program on giraffe for National Geographic

I wonder if this giraffe was using this branch as a toothbrush?

The friendly staff at reception…
Flanked by two mounted Sable heads

The lounge area…
but you have to be aware of the lurking lioness…

This tree is the centre piece of the dining area.
There is also a small shop here that sells essentials and souvenirs

The rather steep road to my accommodation.
Had I know about this, I would have brought my running shoes
and used this for hill training!

My spacious chalet.
It can be either self catering( there is a kitchenette)
or guests can eat in the restaurant at the main building

The view from my front door…

And on the other side.
Looking out over the landscape from the deck

Had I wanted to, I could have been a contestant
in my very own version of Masterchef.

I do like windmills.
They seem to be the iconic landmark of the Free State landscape

Something I did NOT expect to find here.
A female Lechwe amongst a flock of Cattle Egrets.

I found this male Lechwe not too far away.
The last time I saw this antelope was in Botswana about 20 years ago

A couple of young male Waterbuck

A White Blesbok (on the left) running together with a Springbok
and a regular Blesbok.
I have never seen the white variant before

“Are you looking at me”?

Chillin’ on a rock…

There is nothing to beat an African sunset…
except possibly and African Sunrise.

From the outside looking in.
My bathroom, just before bedtime
