While waiting for my daughter’s play to begin at this venue,
I decided to wander around the city…
Looking for something “different” to capture
Old stone and new weeds…
They seem to be able to grow almost anywhere and under any conditions
This is what sea air will do given half a chance…
How many hands have opened and closed these doors?
The new amongst the old.
This is the African Pride Hotel
Some of the decoration in front of the hotel
I am uncertain if these will be around for too much longer.
The advent of email has all but killed the art of letter writing.
And the old adage” The cheque is in the mail”,
is already a thing of the past
In what way could mailboxes be re-purposed?
When last did an item of mail enter here?
As I write this, there is an ongoing postal strike in Johannesburg
and our letterbox has waited in vain for mail.
Amazingly, when mail DOES get through, it always seems to be bills!
Bushy tail?
One of the squirrels from the Company Gardens
One of the many man hole covers I came upon.
This Fruit fly sat and posed for me…
A sundial in the Company Gardens…was it made in 1781,
or does it just commemorate that year?
One of my favourite images from my walk.
A rainbow caught in the spray from the irrigation system
Normally a Gull or a Pigeon might be seen perched here.
So, this Hadeda came as a surprise to me.
More rust…
This building appeared to be derelict although the facade is in reasonable condition
A taste of things to come?
Like a letterbox, are public phones doomed to the scrapheap of history?
Two out of these three seem to be there already.
Four of the English letters from “Supreme Court” are missing.
The Afrikaans side is still intact…I wondered why.
Nailed it.
A skateboarder showing off in Long Street
The sun setting slowly behind this Mosque.
I have never got used to the fact that the sun sets very late in Cape Town.
I discovered some new and interesting places on this walk.
