Benvenuti al Rex… in Rome for a night

608

We flew from Dubai to Rome on an Airbus A380-800.
One of the best flights we have ever been on.
Lots of information about the actual flight

There is even a camera mounted in the tail so that you can see what is going on outside.
Great to watch the plane landing from this point of view

My wife found this hotel on the net.
She chose it because of the way they dealt with her.
Fast, concise answers to her questions…even when she asked where she could buy Truffle Oil.
They gave us the name of the store and we found it without too much trouble,
and said product was duly purchased.

Some history about the hotel

It might not look like much from the outside,
but then we were not sleeping on the outside

The stairs up to reception

Our room faced into a courtyard and this is our view of one of the other rooms
Our “economy room” was MORE than big enough.
The most important feature was the VERY comfortable bed after trying to sleep on the plane

The bathroom was bigger than expected

Even “Kwand-hare” was able to find a spot…
More about him in a later posting

The lounge…

With a “Kiddies corner”…

The hotel boasts a Michelin star restaurant!
All’interno del Rex was opened in 2011 and received its Star in 2012.
I was very impressed. Unfortunately it is not open on a Sunday…
Or perhaps that should be fortunately, seeing the taster meal is Euro100, without wine!

The hotel still uses old-fashioned keys,
rather than the modern digital key cards.
So 1940’s…

If you are looking for a special souvenir,
you might find it at the Rexboutique.

Some toys form yesteryear to enjoy

The hotel in in a side street,

Close to this…

And the all important train station.
We will leave from here to go to our ship that is berthed in Civitavecchia
If you get tired of walking, you can always hop on a tram
