With Airlink to Pietermaritzburg…

1995

I got concerned that squatters were setting up home on the tarmac at ORT.
Once again, it is time for me to board an Airlink flight,
having returned fro Maun the previous day

As usual, the cabin staff were efficient and friendly

“Who wants to go to Pietermaritzburg”?

“WE DO”…
My wife is NOT a morning person…
and she had to get up at 04h30 to be on the flight…

Luckily, this is something I have never had to use…
YET.

Time to cast a giant shadow as we head off towards KZN

Not quite the Delta in Botswana…

This could be Boksburg, Brakpan or Springs…

Little boxes…

The landscape changed as we left Gauteng.

Breakfast drinks…
Please could I bagels insted of the tiny cheese croissants?

I look at clouds from both sides.

Making certain that I am with the correct airline…

The clouds clear to reveal the outskirts of Pmb

For a moment I though that we had been diverted to Kimberley…
but the hole was not big enough.
Final approach…

Why did we choose Pmb?
1] It is less than 25 minutes from the Midlands meander
2] You can walk from the plan to the arrivals/departure areas
3] Friendly staff!
4] Very convenient for holiday-makers like us who were at our destination in less than 30 minutes.
5] Small town airports offer what “small town SA” does…ease of use, friendly service and a great view of the surrounding countryside!
6] And. of course, the efficiency and service of one of the best airlines in SA…Airlink
To all the crew…thanks for (another) great flight.

The airport is currently undergoing renovations…
Obviously, the fines have yet to be determined!
