I went to Machaba Camp to “spot” leopards…

and found them…
literally falling out of trees…

And to make the trip really special we found this mother and cub on more than one occassion

Being a mother is very tiring…

I am not THAT difficult…
Am I?

When I grow up I will hunt for myself.
For now, like all youngsters, mom brings me food.

And we get to hang out…

Another “iconic” Botswana animal, the elephant
This is the business end…

This is the “business” end…

Short, sharp and to the point…

Hip, hip hippo…

The elephants and the hippo tend to share the same stretch of river near the camp

This lioness was part of a small pride that had recently killed a kudu,
hence the size of the tummy

One guess what is in THIS tree…

This male leoprad had “stolen” an impala that a female had killed,
and right before our lenses he hoisted it into a tree.

“MINE”…

Putting the carcass up into the tree was hard work,
so a rest was in order

It has taken me three trips to Botswana to get this shot.
And of course, once one started, the whole pod ended up “yawning”…

Up close and personal
