Coming home…Airlink from Pietermaritzburg to Johannesburg

4972

Our transport arrives at the recently refurbished Pietermaritzburg Airport
One of the main reasons for choosing this airport is the fact that the plane almost parks IN the arrivals/departure hall…

I have come to look forward to seeing these signs…
Although not quite finished, the staff are attentive and eager to please

Friendly ground staff.

I am certain that the building will be great…
Once it is finished.
I like the name of the cafe…
A short walk from the terminal building are several car hire companies…
making it easy for passengers to collect and drive off.

New arrivals as we await our departure.
Another BIG plus is that fact that arriving, or departing passengers do not have to wait for transport.
It is a short walk from the plane to the terminal building.
Passengers who need wheelchairs can be accommodated.
There is also only ONE baggage claim area…so no hunting for a carousal that is hidden behind a pillar.

Final checks?

“All aboard”…

Either they are doing pre-flight checks…
or they are ordering take-out.

Hand on the throttles.

The sun lights the instrument panel as we get final clearance from the tower

The runway lies ahead…

Up and away…

Back lit clouds are spectacular

Real passengers get a slide…
Cockpit crew have to use a rope!

Flying over Standerton…
the best way to visit that town.

ORT and Johannesburg comes into view…

Final approach…

HOME…
Many thanks to all concerned for a great flight…
