Airlink from ORT to Maun

2572

Once again I found myself waiting on the bus to board my flight to Maun
Time to board…

Good to know that they give rescue crews CLEAR instructions!

“Clap hands”…
No, part of the safety briefing…
By now we should all know where the emergency exits are…

“Oxygen masks WILL fall”…
What I don’t understand is the command to breathe “normally” in the case of an emergency.
Luckily, in all my years of flying, I have never had to test this.

Lift off…

Goodbye ORT.

Goodbye Johannesburg…

Above the clouds…

Time for drinks and…
a Cajun Chicken Bagel.
Very tasty!

We enter Botswana airspace.

I was informed that this is the Snake River.

Some greenery, but not much.
The rains are due in early December, hopefully…
The outskirts of Maun.

Stepping onto the tarmac was like stepping into a blast furnace.
About 38C…and not a breath of cooling wind.

Maun International Airport.
Nothing has changed since I was last here 13 years ago.
There are plans to develop a new airport…
but at the moment, they are just framed drawings on the walls

In one side and out the other…
This was our transport from Maun to Machaba Camp…
The AirVan is the baby “brother” to the Caravan that I fly in regularly.
