Airlink fly me to Kasane, Botswana

3006

Once again I find myself back at ORT International Airport…
Waiting to board a flight to Botswana.
This is my second trip to Kasane in four months

Breakfast at the airport…
Not the best…
and they gave me plastic cutlery…my very worst!
It is like being served a beverage in a polystyrene cup.

My first wildlife sighting…
A herd of rather flat Zebra.

If you come to Africa, you HAVE TO take one of these home…

I was travelling alone and far…

Almost time to board…
but wait…
something is missing…

A bus to take us to our aircraft.
I had been warned that this is a regular occurance…
Airlink have no control over the transport…
It was a fiveteen minute wait until it arrived.

There were five Airlink flights that left one after another…

Up and away…
Almost…

Goodbye Johannesburg,
see you in three days.

From our cruising altitude…
37000ft

Airlink serve the BEST snacks.
The beef actually looked like beef…

I tried to get ALL the passengers to hold up a copy of Skyways…
Only some of them did.

Botswana is VERY dry currently.
You can see the Chobe River at the top of the picture…

Part of the new runway at Kasane International Airport.
The runway is now 3.3km long…
Time to fly in the ‘big guns”…

My pilot and co-pilot for what was a very smooth flight…
Although clear air turbulance was forecast, it did not happen

“Our” plane loads passengers and heads back to Johannesburg

This is where I spent my first afternoon.
Not actually in this passage, but in the bunker that it leads to…
Watching…

about fifty Elephants enjoying the waterhole…
But more of that in another posting

A full moon over Chobe…
Grant getting his gear before we all head in to dinner…
