Our morning on Lake Kivu, Rwanda

1661

Our hosts for the first part of our weekend in Rwanda…

If you need to program your GPS…
these are the co-ordinates!

After breakfast  our group was taken on a tour of the hotel.
More of that in another posting…
Once that was over…

we headed down to the lake shore to board our next form of transport…

In a weekend we have done planes, boat and cars…
no trains on this trip.

The hotel from the water

Captain Eric.

A view of the shore.

Another form of water transport passes off our port bow

We did not spot a single water bird…
And this might have been the reason,
they were all aboard this float.

The Rwandians are drilling for methane gas…
Seeing it was a Saturday, the two guys seemed to be the only ones aboard

This is the actual drilling platform…
also without a crew on board

Unlike their next door neighbour, the D.R.C…
there is a lot of building going on.

Lake being used by the locals

Riana recreating the Titanic poster…
Sans Leo…

And then she took over as Captain…
and missed all the icebergs!

This island can be hired for special events…

Fishermen preparing their boats.
Most fishing vessels have a bilge pump…
this one has a bilge person.

Time to head for the shore and prepare for the next part of our Rwanda adventure.
These youngsters wave us good-bye

My hosts for the weekend.
