FIRE!

With autumn here in South Africa moving towards winter,
it was time to clean out our wood burning stove
and help save some electricity…
are fire lighters a “cheat”?
I don’t think so!

Putting a pot of water on the top of the stove,
helps put moisture back into the air…
One day I will try to fry an egg on this.
If I was living on a farm, I would have been stockpiling wood.
But in urban Johannesburg it is easier to buy ready cut wood.

Ready to burn…

and our first fire of 2013 is alight…

Our cats seem to enjoy the warmth…

Chaggy does not like to get too close…
On the other hand, Miro want to be almost as warm as the stove!

Eventually the fire dies down and it is time to head for bed…
