Emmarentia Dam on an autumn Sunday morning

5073

A glorious Highveld autumn morning.
The hues of the dying leaves are one last burst of  colour before winter sets in.
There is only one song that can accompany this posting.
Many thanks to Simon and Garfunkel.
The soundtrack of my youth…

Some of the grasses on the side of the dam

I was not the only photographer at the dam.
This fellow had traveled all the way from Springs on the East Rand.

Walk like an Egyptian(Goose)…
Mom and goslings out in the early morning sun

Northcliff Hill almost looks like part of a Middle Eastern city.

Sunlight starting to creep down the trees on the western side of the dam

Cyclists were out in large numbers.

This little Wagtail was pretending to be a water bird.

If there is a blank concrete wall,
then there HAS to be graffiti…

The Sentech tower in Auckland Park

The light starts to change…

and inexorably the landscape follows…

This could be a scene from New England.

Runners out training…

and early morning walkers.

Pigeons are everywhere.

Not quite the pottery flying geese that I have on my lounge wall,
but the real deal.

Once the sun was up,
this flock decided it was time to move.

After waiting for more than an hour the first paddler arrived.

Unlike Cape Town, we might not have THAT mountain
and two oceans,
BUT we have this!
A view well worth braving the cold for…
