Hiding out…Jaci’s Tree Lodge

1732

I was looking forward to spending a night under the stars
in this hide at the waterhole at Jaci’s Tree Lodge

This was to keep other guests from wandering into the hide while I was asleep.

No electricity, but this was more than sufficient!

The African night sky…
The stars in the centre of the image are Orion’s Belt

Set up for me…

Who need four walls when you have a mozzie net?

A picture of a picture…

There are flaps that can be lowered should the weather be too cold.

Dawn over the waterhole

I wish I had this view from our bedroom at home in Johannesburg

This parafin lasted the whole night…

I was the call of this Francolin that acted as my alsrm clock

Burchell’s Starlings

Reflections…

Helmeted Guinea Fowl and a chick

A couple of Hamerkops waitng for breakfast

An Impala doing a Giraffe impression.

A Grey Hornbill…

And a cheeky Yellow-billed Hornbill

Eventually the Elephants arrived.
But unfortunately they did not stay long.
All the bird/wildlife images were taken from the hide.
Under a full moon this waterhole would be a great place to celebrate a special event
Check the lunar calendar before you book your next trip…
Madikwe Game Reserve is Malaria free!
Great news, especially for families with children.
