Cranes,and not the feathered variety

It is amazing what you find hidden on old computers…my desktop started playing up and that mean that I had to turn to my netbook to “fill in”until I can get my PC to the shop for repairs
A couple of years ago I was working in Cape Town and every time I wanted to do a landscape photograph, I realized there was a crane in the picture
Rather than get upset I decided to turn my ramblings into a photoshoot on…you guessed it…
CRANES!
Single cranes or groups, they were all grist for my lens. Even a gull got into this image.
This was the Cape Town stadium before the Soccer World Cup 2010.
I was told that while I was assembling this photo essay, 25% of the cranes in the world were in Dubai…I have a sneaky feeling a similar percentage were in Cape Town.
High and mighty, aside from having to climb up and down to his “office” a crane operator must have a stunning view.
A Cape sunset…
Different evening, different crane
a pair of cranes…
All alone
I wonder if there is a collective noun for cranes? Answers on a post card please!
The V&A waterfront has its fair share of these mechanical giraffes…
One parting shot…
And while I was busy “working” the Cape Town locals did what they best known for…
