This Olive Bee Eater set the tone for the birdlife on the island. Previously in Maputo all I had seen were Crows that seemed to have chased away all the local birdlife

This Pied Kingfisher was having more luck that the fishermen staying at Indigo Bay Resort!

Even a Sacred Ibis joined in the feeding…

These are “Cape” doves, yet there they were feeding while I ate breakfast on the veranda…

Even the South African ” Mossie” or Common House Sparrow can be found on the island. This one seems to want to be a ship’s mascot.

There were several of these Western Reef Herons patrolling the shoreline and feeding a variety of seafood delicacies…

I found this group of Helmeted Guinea Fowl near the Spa at the top of the hill…
