Safari adventure...details of our Sabi Sands trip...

We started off this adventure at the Federal Air lounge next to ORT International Airport…

They serve the best coffee, sandwiches and snacks…and all for free!

They also offer the friendliest and easiest check-in facitilties…

If you are flying into ORT,they offer a shuttle service.

“Our” plane getting ready for take off…

Spring flowers in the outside seating area…certainly better than being cooped up in a stuffy terminal!

We take to the skies…

And land safely at the Execeter airstrip…

Our first stop was at the &Beyond Leadwood Lodge, which is in the western sector of Sabi Sands. This stunning property set the tone for the next couple of days…

This is the lounge/general dining area of this stunning lodge…

From here we moved to &Beyond River Lodge which is situated close  to Leadwood Lodge

The home-made Lemonade served at each camp was a treat…

Nyala graze right next to the viewing deck at River Lodge…

Our last stop over before heading home was at &Beyond Kirkman’s Kamp, situated in the South eastern corner of the Sabi Sands reserve and about a 45 minute drive from the &Beyond properties in the Western sector.

This was the original homestead of Harry Kirkman and his family…first as a cattle ranch, then as a hunting reserve and currently(since2006) part of the &Beyond group…

Our room was very colonial, and exceptionally comfortable…

The main areas are filled with relics from a bygone era…and they are what gives Kirkman’s it’s innate charm…this collection of rifles belonged to Harry

Bush walks were on offer at all three camps…we chose to do one on our last morning…

This Buffalo bull was part of a group that watched our progress with interest…

Our final game sighting before leaving for the airport…a group of female Waterbuck…
