Sometimes things work out…like finding my hat in the middle of a game reserve after it had been AWOL for a day and two nights!
Due to a change in availability, we were able to stay at Exeter River Lodge with our American friends…
Almost in walking distance of Leadwood Lodge, this property is totally different in both style and ambiance…
This stone work is a major design at Leadwood,at RIver Lodge I only found one wall…perhaps some leftovers?
The main entrance…
This buffalo head is made our of wire and paper, with a light inside…an interesting design feature…
The veranda at the rear of the reception area…we found some young Nyala females eating here on our way back from lunch…
The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by curtains…but the toilet does have a door…there are also two indoor showers as well as an outdoor one!
Aside from the bedroom that overlooks a deck, there is also a lounge that overlooks a plunge pool
I did not try it out, however my wife did tell me that the water was warm…and who am I to disagree with her?
As with all the &Beyond properties I have visited this notice gives guests fair warning of what to expect…
Not one of the “Big 5” this male Nyala has a seriously sharp set of horns…
Not certain what these are,but they are pretty…
This too caught my attention…I found it outside the reception area…
On the open area in front of the main dining/ lounge area we spotted this mixed group of Impala and Baboons…
The sound of water flowing over this weir was the background music for our lunch
This Nyala bull was eating Jackalberry flowers less than 2m from where we were eating!
What I thought was an alien, actually turned out to be my wife looking through a pair of binoculars!
I spotted this young Nyala female from the deck of our room…
But enough for now…time for a nap before game drive…
TO BE CONTINUED…
