It has been a while since I last visited the Elephant Sanctuary near Brits…but this particular female remembered me and came running to greet me! The other guests on the deck were rather taken aback by the Pachyderm lumbering towards me…
Sam, the head guide has been there for 11 years and is able to entertain and inform with the panache of a stage performer…his knowledge of Elephants and the trees on the property is almost encyclopedic…
My American friends, Jim and Joanne, seemed to be more interested in taking pictures of me…although to be fair, Jo’s first love is Elephants…(after her husband,of course)
My wife getting kissed by one of the Ellies…
Did she enjoy it? You be the judge…
And if that was not enough for her, she was also able to walk with the Ellies later in the afternoon…
Being this close to these gentle giants can be daunting…but as long as you respect them and their space, they are relaxed…
