Our final Sabi Sands game drive from this property started off in spectacular style…
More lion cubs…
A really relaxed lioness
And an elderly lioness who was snoring so loudly that I was amazed that she did not wake herself up!
This young cub decided that elephant dung can make a great toy…
While his sibling decided to use the Aunt as a climbing frame…
All of these activities allowed mom to get some rest as her cubs seemed to be annoying her…
We decided to leave them to their antics and went in search of other interesting game…
We spotted this large Monitor lizard in a tree…not one of the “Big 5”, but special never the less…
We also found these hippo fighting in the Sand River…
A tour group on the Kruger Park side were also taking pictures of them…
A male Giraffe enjoying a meal as the light faded…
A yellow billed Hornbill also taking in the dying rays…
And then the highlight of the drive…
We found a den of Spotted Hyena pups…
Varying in age from about 2-8 months, they certainly kept us entertained for the time we spent with them
But with the light fading fast, it was time to find a place for sundowners…
The Baboons took off as we arrived, leaving us to enjoy the now deserted river bed…
Cheers!
When the trees start to look like this,it is time to pack away the bar and return to camp!
