“How different can a game lodge be”? I hear you ask…
The shower in our room had the taps on the side wall…no big deal? BIG DEAL…how many times have you been scalded in a shower trying to adjust the temperature…
There was also an entire range of products on hand to cover guests requirements from head to toe…and all the bits in between!
Melton Manor in the early morning light…often used by groups(the lodge only sleeps 8 adults) we shared our time there with a family of three from the Cape..
Breakfast, prepared by Bronwyn, had a couple of surprises as well…a platter of cheeses with preserved figs to tempt…
And wonderful, freshly baked breads to broaden the waist line…
No wonder then that these warthogs were seen hanging around the lodge. Perhaps they were hoping for scraps?
Hidden away in the lounge, I discovered these suitcases and tins…labels can tell such interesting stories, and these were no exception…
Our final drive back to reception also brought some surprises
A grave yard where the original owners of the property, the Douglass family are buried…not only family, but the owner’s horse as well.
I found this sign on the way to the exit gate…obviously the animals have no idea that they should be on the road as we saw none during our game drives! Maybe they missed the memo?
