The Nha Trang airport is built on the site of the US Army base and is about 40kmfrom the city centre.
Nha Trang bay is described as one of the most beautiful in the world…unfortunately this picture does not really do it justice!
Our hotel room had tow of the largest single beds we had ever encountered…and once again the pillows were wonderful! The hotel reminded me of the Muizenberg(Cape Town) holiday hotels in the early ’80’s…A great room with a wonderful view of the main road and the beach beyond
Caro trying to cross the road…slowly and all seems to be well but it is quite an experience the first time you step into the traffic!
Like Saigon, the traffic never seems to stop.However there is very little night life, so the traffic noise tends to abate early.
Believe it our not I had frog for supper…and no it does not taste like chicken.Very bony and not much meat…I am starting to crave a burger and fries…but I will resist.
The locals really enjoy having their photographs taken.This guy even hauled the back twin out so I get a picture of all four of them…
The beach here is similar to most Island destinations I have visited.
The sand is clean and white but it is rather coarse and the locals do not seem to go to far from the shore.
However, Para sailing seems to be very popular, but I am not quite sure who is dangling at the end of the harness
A lot of the young Vietnamese boys we saw tended to be on the chubby side…I am hoping that this trend will be curtailed so that it does not become a problem later

Breakfast was served in this light and airy dining room…being on the 2nd floor you can actually look down at the people on the side-walk
This sign did make me smile…and seeing that the hotel was so honest about the quality of their meat, I did not bother to try this particular dish! The staff must have noticed me taking the picture as the sign was removed shortly afterwards…
We started our day with a visit to the local Aquarium and Oceanographic Institute…
We then headed out to one of the nearby islands to try some snorkelling (unfortunately no images as I do not have the correct equipment for that)
A huge lunch was served up on another island close by…
Then it was back past the floating lobster farms back to the harbour to go to the Thap Ba hot springs.
As my wife pointed out, we were like children playing in the mud…And what fun it was!
Whole families seemed to be enjoying themselves…although I am not certain about the toddler in the polka dot swim suit!
Young and old take the water here and seem be the better for it…
This waterfall is warm mineral water and designed to be used by 5 or more people…
