Buffalo in the mist...we visit the Ta Phin village

Tourists can get to the Ta Phin village on foot…but it is about 10-12km and it was raining the morning we wanted to go there. These brave souls decided to huddle under umbrellas and tackle the walk regardless…we took a car 🙂

Ta Phin village is home to both the H’mung and Red Dao ethnic minority groups.Aside from seeing how the locals work, guests can also stay overnight with a family. Tourists can visit an old French monastery or soak away their aches and pains after a long walk (or comfortable car ride) in a traditional Red Dao herbal bath.

This fellow was carving a drum…

And then the mist rolled in…and the valley started to disappear…

This Dao woman continued to work without being phased by the inclement weather.

The Vietnamese are very aware of using energy saving light bulbs…I seemed to notice them all over

The intricate work on the clothing is all done by hand and is for sale…at a price…be prepared to haggle for the really good pieces which can cost up to $50…and the women know what their products are worth!

I am certain that these two Vietnamese Pot Bellied pigs are eventually destined for someones dinner table.

Caro and her entourage heading back to the village from the Spa…and then the mist rolled in…

and rolled away again…

This soft drink seems to be spelled the same in any language…

A couple of youngsters from the village…
